Clove essential oil
by: Dental Assistant Team
Clove is believed to be antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic. Some even believe that clove has aphrodisiac properties.
Because of these strong properties some use it to help with wounds such as cuts, insect bites or infection like fungus, acne, and more.
Clove is also believed to be effective in helping with some dental conditions as well. It contains Eugenol which is frequently used in dentistry.
Because of its germicidal properties it can relieve toothaches, be applied directly on the gums and mouth ulcers (it can stings as you put it on a sore, but it will quickly numb the area and disinfect it).
You can put one drop of clove oil on your tongue in cases of sore throat, you will feel an instant rush, and a great relief of any throat pain.
Clove is a strong oil that can be diluted. It is advised to test it on a small area before using it. Clove oil can burn if misused and should be used in small quantities and preferably diluted. Misuse of clove oil can cause some strong reaction, so always use caution and ask a medical professional before using any supplement or oil.
In the case of clove oil, less is definitely better, especially when you are using it for the first time.
The strong scent of clove oil makes it a great insect repellent. It can also be used to freshen up your home. I use a few drops of clove essential oil in a spray bottle after cleaning my counter top in my kitchen, and apply it on the floor after cleaning.
